Cholet Agglo Tour - Revelatie Lukas Kubis verlengt daags na winst in Frankrijk contract bij Unibet Tietema

Kubis is één van de revelaties van dit wielerseizoen. De 25-jarige Slovaak reed tot eind vorig jaar nog op het derde niveau van het wielrennen, bij een continentale ploeg, maar werd na zijn transfer naar de ploeg van YouTuber Bas Tietema meteen zesde in de Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, haalde ook de top tien van Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne, de Samyn Classic en Nokere Koerse, en won gisteren/zondag in het Franse Cholet.

De prestaties van Kubis zorgden meteen voor speculaties of tweedeklasser Unibet Tietema de Slovaak wel aan boord zou kunnen houden, maar die drukken de Nederlanders nu dus zelf de kop in: ze braken het tweejarige contract van Kubis open en legden hem vast voor een extra jaar, tot eind 2027. "We hebben hetzelfde doel: de Tour de France halen", zegt Kubis. "Daar gaan we samen voor."

Bij de Unibet Tietema Rockets rijden ook de Belgen Davide Bomboi, Lander Loockx en Abram Stockman. De ploeg is Nederlands, maar rijdt onder een Franse licentie.

Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) was de enige die de versnelling van Mathieu van der Poel op de Oude Kwaremont kon pareren. Voor even toch. Toen de Nederlander bleef doortrekken, kraakte de Deen en moest hij een kloofje laten. Dat gat werd alsmaar groter. Uiteindelijk zou Mathieu van der Poel meer dan een minuut voor Mads Pedersen aankomen op de Stasegemsesteenweg in Harelbeke.

Le skieur olympique turc Berkin Usta décède à 24 ans dans l'incendie d'un hôtel

Le skieur turc Berkin Usta est décédé à l'âge de 24 ans dans l'incendie d'un hôtel dans une station de ski près de Bursa en Turquie. Usta avait participé au slalom et au slalom géant aux Jeux Olympiques d'hiver de Pékin en 2022. Son père Yahya Usta, qui était président de l'Association turque des moniteurs de ski et de snowboard, est également décédé dans l'incendie tandis que sa mère Fikriye a survécu.

Turkse olympische skiër Usta komt om het leven bij hotelbrand

De Turkse skiër Berkin Usta is op 24-jarige leeftijd om het leven gekomen bij een hotelbrand in een skioord nabij Bursa. Hij deed in 2022 bij de Olympische Winterspelen van Peking mee op de slalom en de reuzenslalom. Ook zijn vader Yahya Usta, die voorzitter was van de Turkse vereniging van ski- en snowboardleraren, stierf door het vuur. Zijn moeder Fikriye overleefde de brand.
