Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who won two world indoor championship titles in Nanjing, and two of his brothers, Henrik and Filip, who are also athletes, shocked Norway when they accused their father Gjert of using "physical violence" and "threats" as part of their upbringing. Tweeënhalf jaar gevangenisstraf geëist voor vader van Jakob Ingebrigtsen

De 59-jarige vader ontkende eerder al de beschuldigingen. De maximumstraf voor dergelijke feiten in Noorwegen is zes jaar. In principe valt de uitspraak donderdag. De advocaten van de beklaagde gaan voor de vrijspraak.

De zaak barstte los nadat Jakob en zijn atletiekbroers Henrik en Filip in oktober 2023 naar buiten kwamen met een opiniestuk in de Noorse krant Verdens Gang. Daarin beschuldigden ze hun vader van gewelddadig gedrag in hun jeugd. De politie besloot na onderzoek alleen de klachten van Jakob en Ingrid te weerhouden.
